Australian Engineering Standards
Australian Standards are controlled by Standards Australia, which publishes and maintains over 6,000 standards for various
industries and products. Engineers use standards to ensure the safety,
reliability, and quality of designs and constructions.
These standards are written by technical committees drawing from experts
from the business, academic, and government areas. Australian Standards
themselves are usually not laws, but can become mandatory if required by
contracts, legislation, or for building approvals.
